Nine Mile Reef
Nine Mile rewards the bay's longest ride with its boldest color. The reef's shallow spine carries huge green tree corals — the emblematic photograph of the site — over gullies and cutbacks where sweepers pulse in the shade. Snapper and fusilier schools braid over the structure, turtles and rays move along the sand line, and in the warm months the launch itself doubles as a wildlife transect: whale sharks, dolphins, and, in winter, humpbacks are all met on the way. Sea state gates access, so a Nine Mile day feels like a small occasion, planned the evening before and confirmed at dawn.
