Kichwani is the Mnemba conservation area's showpiece slope: a wall-like bank of hard coral that begins in three meters of turquoise and drops in steps toward thirty. Green turtles graze the shallows in numbers that make counting pointless, moray heads punctuate the coral, and the mid-slope is a continuous drift of snapper, fusiliers, and anthias. Deeper, whitetip reef sharks rest under overhangs and the coral thins to sponge and whip growth. Currents stay gentle enough for newer divers on most tides while the slope's depth range keeps experienced buddies interested — the balance that made Mnemba famous.
