Panagsama Reef (the Sardine Run)
The sardines are not a season or an event; they are simply there, a resident school estimated in the millions that hangs over the reef lip within a stone's throw of the beach bars. On scuba you settle at 8-12 m and let the ball do the work, splitting into ribbons, raining down in silver curtains, snapping shut around hunting jacks or a diving cormorant. Green turtles plow through without ceremony, and dawn patrols occasionally report a thresher shark rising from deep water off the wall. Snorkelers and freedivers arguably get the better show in the top five meters.
El momento por el que vienes: A permanent multimillion-fish bait ball, turtles in the mix, dawn predator lottery
Topografía: Reef flat breaking to a wall right off the beach
Corriente: Generally light along-shore movement.
Entrada: Walk-in entries along Panagsama Beach; mind boats and freedivers in the first meters.
Lo que debes saber antes de tirarte al agua
Riesgos: Heavy swimmer, freediver, and banca traffic overhead; use a marker when surfacing outside the buoys.
Conservación: The school is a local livelihood via tourism; no feeding, no flash mobs of contact, and give the ball room to breathe.
