Depth is the range from the top of the site to its usual maximum; "recommended cert" is the mainstream-agency level operators usually ask for, not a legal rule. Currents and visibility change daily — treat everything here as planning ranges.

Melissa's Garden is the show garden of the Fam and Penemu islands, a plateau where hard corals grow rail-to-rail: staghorn thickets, lettuce corals, and table after unbroken table, all in the top fifteen meters. The shallows shimmer with anthias and damselfish, wobbegongs park beneath the plates, and blacktip reef sharks ghost across the coral rooftops. Guides work the edges for pygmy seahorses on the fans while the plateau itself suits slow, sightseeing profiles. Its condition, remarkable even by Raja Ampat standards, made it a favorite of conservation photographers, and the nearby Piaynemo lookout means many boats pair the dive with the karst panorama topside.

The moment you come for: Pristine hard-coral cover; blacktips over the plateau; pygmy seahorses on the fans.

Topography: A broad hard-coral plateau between islets in the Penemu group, edges sloping to sand.

Current: Usually gentle; occasional stronger flow at the plateau ends.

Know before you splash

Hazards: Shallow coral heads on the ascent; occasional current at the corners.

Conservation: The coral plateau is fragile and shallow; fin control matters more here than almost anywhere in the region.
