Quarter Mile Reef
La profondeur correspond à la plage allant du sommet du site jusqu'à son maximum habituel ; le « niveau recommandé » est le niveau demandé en général par les opérateurs auprès des grandes agences, pas une règle légale. Les courants et la visibilité varient chaque jour, traitez donc tout cela comme des plages indicatives de planification.
Quarter Mile is Sodwana's shortest boat ride and, in summer, its most important habitat: pregnant ragged-tooth sharks rest in its shallow gullies between roughly December and April, pausing on their gestation migration up the coast. Divers keep to the edges and watch the heavy-bodied animals hover over the sand, ram-ventilating in the surge. Outside raggie season the reef is a modest but pleasant beginner site (rays under the ledges, turtles passing, octopus in the potholes), dived mostly as a check-out or a second tank. In season, it is treated with nursery-level care.
