Seven Mile Reef
Seven Mile is where Sodwana's terrain turns theatrical: mushroom-shaped rock formations, mini-pinnacles, and undercut ledges hung with green tree coral, all in water that usually runs a shade clearer than the reefs to the south. The extra distance from the launch pays off in traffic — both boat and fish. Eagle rays and turtles are near-standard, big morays occupy the overhangs, kingfish and barracuda patrol the edges, and the drop-off side gives the park's best chance of something unannounced arriving from the blue. Many Sodwana regulars simply call it the best reef in the bay.
Le moment pour lequel vous venez: Mushroom-rock topography and green tree coral; the park's most likely big-fish reef
Topographie: Sculpted reef with mushroom rocks, pinnacles, drop-offs, and green tree corals
Courant: More oceanic than the southern reefs; gentle drifts are common.
À savoir avant de plonger
Dangers: Longer launch, light current, and depth along the seaward edge.
Permis & règlements: iSimangaliso park fees apply.
Conservation: Tree corals and undercuts are the signature — give the formations a wide berth.
Nitrox: Intéressant ici — les profils se situent dans la plage où le nitrox prolonge significativement le temps sans palier (avec la formation pour l'utiliser).
