Banana Reef
De diepte is de range van de bovenkant van de site tot het gebruikelijke maximum; "aanbevolen brevet" is het niveau dat operators doorgaans vragen volgens de grote opleidingsorganisaties, geen wettelijke verplichting. Stromingen en zicht veranderen dagelijks, dus beschouw alles hier als planningsranges.
One of the first Maldivian sites ever dived and still one of the best in the atoll, Banana Reef curves like its namesake fruit with a protected inside and a current-brushed outer edge. Overhangs and cuts shelter squirrelfish and packs of oriental sweetlips; Napoleon wrasse cruise the drop-off, and when the tide pushes, snapper stack into the eddies in their thousands. The topography (ledges, canyons, a cave-pocked wall) carries the dive even on a slack tide, which is why every Malé operator keeps it in rotation.

Stroming: Tidal flow wraps the curved reef; the exposed point can run hard and turn the dive into a drift.

Nitrox: Hier de moeite waard: profielen liggen in het bereik waar nitrox de no-stop-tijd zinvol verlengt (met de juiste training om het te gebruiken).
