Manta Sandy is the archipelago's most dependable reef-manta rendezvous, a plain sand flat between Arborek and Mansuar where a line of coral heads works as a cleaning service. Divers settle behind a marked rubble line, rangers enforce the queue and boat limits, and the mantas do the rest, banking in low over the bommies while wrasses pick them clean. Trains of several animals are common in season, including occasional black morphs. The viewing-line system, introduced after crowding began disturbing the site, has become a model for manta management in Indonesia. Between passes, look for stingrays on the sand and the odd wobbegong under nearby heads.
